Sterling Autobody Supports Houston Youth Baseball Clinic

NATICK, Mass, (August 5, 2008) - For the second consecutive year, Sterling Autobody’s $10,000 donation to the Houston Area Urban League has helped fund a youth baseball clinic. Over 200 area children and their families participated in the fifth annual event, which took place June 21, 2008 at Houston’s Minute Maid Park. Mike Harris of the Miracles Baseball Academy led the clinic, which also featured Houston Astros legends Larry Dierker, J.R. Richard and Jimmy Wynn.

The clinic was divided into several stations for hitting off a tee, throwing with staffers, running sprints, and life skills training. The four hour event offered participants an opportunity to take photos with their favorite players and secure their autograph during group signing sessions. Each attendee left the clinic with a Sterling sponsored gift bag complete with baseball staples like trading cards, Cracker Jacks and bubble gum.

Elmer Rogers, Director of Fund Development for the Houston Area Urban League said, “Words cannot express how grateful we are for Sterling’s repeated commitment to helping us help others. We sincerely thank them for the smiles and excitement on the face of every child and family who was able to participate because of their generosity.”

Sterling President Allan Robinson added, “As a company we believe it is important to give back to the communities where we work, live and play. Sterling has been a sponsor of individual youth sports teams for several years. Our support of the Houston Area Urban League and the youth baseball clinic provided a great opportunity to reach out to a large number of Houston children and their families. It was a great day for everyone involved.”
