[Detroit, November 20, 2008] — Sterling Autobody Centers, a member of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), has committed to participate in a nationwide vehicle donation program called Recycled Rides. This program is a community awareness project whereby members of NABC repair and donate recycled vehicles to families in need.
Recycled Rides is scheduled to make over 43 donations throughout the country the week of Thanksgiving. “Our goal is to help people in our local community,” states President of Sterling Autobody Centers, Allan Robinson. “We decided to utilize the NABC program because they have a great toolkit which walks us through the entire process. Together we can have an effect right here in our community and across the country.”
Bob Benjamin, Vice President of Sterling’s Eastern Operations adds: “Each year collision repair operators all over the country come across cars that are ‘written off’ or ‘totaled’ by either the owner or the insurance company. Many times all these vehicles need is some TLC or mechanical and body work to get them road ready and safe to drive. Why are these cars going to waste when there are people who really need them? We decided to join in on this national effort and located a nice 2005 Chevrolet Equinox generously donated by Allstate Insurance Company.
Community Housing Network has assisted Sterling Autobody Centers locate a worthy individual. “We are excited about participating in Recycled Rides and the person who will be receiving this vehicle is also very excited,” states Barbara Garrett of Community Housing Network. “Lauri is looking forward to having transportation that will enable her to get to and from work, school and run the kind of daily errands that most of us take for granted. We’re helping her with all the related details, including registration and insurance. It takes a lot of people working together to pull this off. |
